Sr Communications Specialist, Community Investment and Foundation

Position Responsibilities

  • Create communications including (grant write-ups, annual reports, draft and edit quotes, newsletter articles, social posts):
    • External - newsletter articles, quotes and logo placement, social posts, name/logo placement, Citizenship Report, public remarks
    • Internal – program communications, social posts, PowerPoint slides, key messages
  • Assists with Foundation’s Grant making portfolio
    • Proactively research nonprofit organizations that run highly effective programs that fit the Foundation’s focus area’s
    • Conduct thorough grant review, program analysis, financial due diligence and provide succinct grant recommendations
    • Strong writing skills
      • Produce grant contracts detailing expectations
    • Administer grantmaking system “CyberGrants”
      • Generate reports
    • Follow through to ensure grantees deliver on expectations, receipt of final reports and evaluate effectiveness
  • Develop, coordinate and manage all aspects of employee volunteer opportunities
    • Oversee and execute employee Month of Service: t-shirts, track KPI’s, answer questions, post projects to internal social channels
    • Oversee Employee Engagement Council “Conagra Cares”
      • Host WebEx meetings approximately every other month
      • Feature employees throughout the company as guest speakers to highlight projects in their communities
    • Strategically interact with ERN’s
    • Execute Hunger Action Month activation using materials developed by Feeding America
    • Encourage employee and senior management participation in volunteer events
    • Administer volunteer hour tracking “VolunteerMatch”
      • Promote VolunteerMatch for employees to self-report volunteer activity
      • Generate reports
  • Coordinate the United Way employee activation events
    • Coordinate internal communications
    • Train employee volunteers
    • Manage special events
    • Coordinate location and plant involvement
    • Conduct all administrative work associated with campaign implementation
  • Coordinate Dollars for Doers and Matching Gifts programs
    • Create/Coordinate internal communications
    • Implement guidelines, verify nondiscrimination policy alignment
    • Encourage employee and senior management participation
  • Gather board placement information for Conagra leadership and employees
    • Research board opportunities nonprofit partners
    • Use CyberGrants to track all employee board membership
    • As necessary, plan and execute professional development trainings related to board membership
  • Administration: Fill tables, track event details and guests, process event table purchases, track social posts, coordinate details with special guests or presentations, maintain files and uploads documents into grant database.
  • Financial: Open PO’s, set up new vendors, monitor payments in SAP, report monthly accruals
    • Provide research support as necessary, including:
    • Grantmaking
    • Volunteerism
    • National partnerships
    • Focus areas (e.g., hunger and nutrition)

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to motivate employees to participate in volunteer activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge of employee volunteer programs and corporate grantmaking
